BOSCH and SIEMENS washing machine error codes

Bosch and Siemens logoWashing machines can not only wash clothes but also detect malfunctions should they arise. Most models have self-diagnostic capabilities, meaning they alert you to any problems using an error code.

When a malfunction or fault occurs, the Bosch washing machine, like many other models, displays letters and numbers on the display. These letters and numbers indicate the fault. This is extremely convenient, as the same symptoms can occur with different faulty parts of the machine.

And here it automatically tells you what needs to be checked. Whether you call a technician or decide to do the repair yourself, this will make the job easier. But to understand the nature of the problem, you need to decipher the code displayed on the screen. Below, we'll provide you with a list of codes and their interpretation.

Table of BOSCH and SIEMENS error codes

Code Why did the error occur? What's broken and what should I do?
F01 The washing machine door is open or closed, but not tightly. Make sure the hatch is locked. Also, check that dirty laundry isn't trapped under the hatch. Close it tightly.
F02 Lack of water
  • The water inlet filter is clogged.
  • The water supply is shut off (check the tap).
  • Weak water pressure or complete absence of water in the water supply system.
F03 Water does not drain This code occurs if the water has not drained from the tank within 10 minutes.

  • Make sure the drain pump is in good working order. Rotate the impeller; it should move smoothly. Make sure there are no breaks.
  • Check the drain pump filter and hoses for blockages.
  • There is also a possibility that the electronics module is broken (less common).

F22 Temperature sensor failure.

  1. He short-circuited.
  2. Out of order.
  3. Wiring problems.
The wash will finish without heating the water.
F23 The Aquastop system has been activated.

  1. Water leaking and getting into the machine tray.
  2. A break in the connecting chains occurred.
  • Make sure there is no break in the chain.
  • Make sure that Aquastop is working properly.
  • Make sure there are no leaks.
F25 The sensor that checks the level of water pollution is broken.

  1. Blockage in the drainage system.
  2. Level sensor failure.
  3. Limescale deposits on the sensor.
The wash will be carried out without rinsing mode.
F26 The sensor responsible for ensuring the absence of electrical voltage faults has broken. The pressure switch could also be faulty. A critical error has occurred. The selected wash program is canceled. The pump drains all the water, the door is locked in the closed position, and the display and controls are locked.

  1. To reset the error, turn the washing machine on and off.
  2. Make sure the pressure switch is working properly.
  3. Make sure there is no break in the circuit.
F27 Problems with the pressure switch. This part is broken. The work continues.

  • Make sure the wires are intact.
  • Make sure the flow sensor is working properly.
F28 Flow sensor failure (incorrect data from it).
  • Make sure the wires are intact.
  • Perform a flow sensor test.
F29 The flow sensor did not detect any water flow.

  1. The water supply from the water mains has been cut off.
  2. Too little pressure.
  3. The filter mesh does not allow water to pass through due to clogging.
  4. Inlet valve failure.
  5. Aquastop breakdown.
  6. Problems with the pressure switch.
The wash cycle will stop after five minutes. The water will drain after a few minutes. You can then restart the wash cycle.

  • Make sure the wires are intact.
  • Make sure that all parts listed in the left column are in good working order.
  • Check if the tap is open.
F31 Exceeding the maximum water level.

  1. Pump blockage.
  2. Problems with the water drainage system (blockage, etc.).
  3. The fill valve is stuck.
  4. The pressure switch is damaged.
The program will take longer to run.

  • Make sure the drain pump is working properly.
  • Check for broken wires.

My Siemens VarioPerfect IQ300 washing machine doesn't spin the laundry completely at the end of the wash cycle when using the "Mixed Load" and "Dark Load" cycles. I have to use the spin cycle separately. How can I resolve this without taking the machine to a service center? Thank you.

  2. Gravatar Alexander Alexander:

Hello! We have a Siemens IQ700 washing machine, and I can't get the water pump cover off. The cover handle is vertical at the 12 o'clock position, and it only unscrews a quarter of the way to the left. It won't go any further, and it won't come out. Could you tell me how to unscrew it? Identification numbers:
    E-Nr.WM12S47AOE/07 FD9201 200129,

The same machine. But as I understand it, Siemens water pump covers are basically the same. (And Bosch too.) I couldn't find any other solution other than removing the front panel. There's a single bolt next to the filter cover. Unscrew it. Then press the latch. It's located to the left and slightly above the cover. The other latches release automatically with a screwdriver. Then reach the clamp with pliers and pull the hose off the pump. Remove any debris from the filter through the resulting hole. And—wow! The cover opens easily. Reassembly is the reverse order.

  3. Gravatar Igor Igor:

Hello! I have a Siemens Advantig X10.34 washing machine. The display shows error F21. I replaced the motor brushes, but the error still flashes. How do I reset the display? Or is there another cause for the problem? Thank you.

Siemens error F78, what is it, does anyone know?

  5. Valentine's Gravatar Valentina:

Good afternoon. My Bosch E-NR:WFL16620E/10 FD8511 100192 washer washes on one setting, but the others don't work. Can I fix this myself? Maybe reset the settings or reboot?

  6. Gravatar Dmitry Dmitry:

Good afternoon! My Indesit washing machine starts the wash cycle, fills up with a little water, and then stops. If I pour water through the detergent container, it starts spinning. I pour three buckets, and it works. It doesn't heat, though; it rinses and spins—everything works as it should.

  7. Gravatar Yuriy Yuriy:

Bosch WLK20264OE washing machine. Error E21 occurred during washing.

  8. Gravatar Slavik Slavik:

Good afternoon, I have a Bosch Logixx 8 washing machine and it's displaying error code F00, and the child lock is enabled. Does anyone know how to fix this? The test cycle shows no errors.

  9. Gravatar Semyon Semyon:

    Engine, tachometer

  10. Gravatar Ekaterina Catherine:

Hello! Could you please tell me my Bosch Series 4 washing machine displays error code E-05, then E-10. Two technicians at service centers have given different explanations for the problem. What could this be and what needs to be fixed? Currently, the indicator light freezes when I flip the switch, and the door doesn't close when I press start. It also won't start, and beeps when the error occurs.
